Meet our team

Each one of our on site staff members and our activities instructors is committed to providing a high quality educational and recreational experience for campers that focus on the Camp d'Ete core values of safety, camaraderie, respect and responsibility.  

All our staff is qualified and experienced in school and camp environments. Each adult at the camp is background checked, and hold a CPR and First Aid Certification.  

Mirza Kopelman, Le Camp D'Eté Director


Mirza Kopelman is in his tenth year as Extended Day Director at Ecole Bilingue. He brings 15 years experience in education, starting as a music teacher in New York City for three years. In 2004 he moved to Los Angeles where he started his own after school music teaching company. After several years he and his family relocated to Berkeley. His three children have all attended Ecole Bilingue and have become part of the EB family.

He is extremely passionate about the concept of learning outside the classroom, and uses this as his guiding principle in leading Extended Day. He loves music, nature, and sports.

Mirza Kopelman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Purchase College - State University of New York

Lyesse Tsamen, Le Camp D'Eté Consultant

Lyesse Tsamen is a consultant working with Mirza Kopelman to develop and operate le Camp d'Ete. Lyesse is the Founder and CEO of Bridges Education Consulting, an education services consulting company. He has over 20 years of experience in education services and after-school programs and camps in France and United States. He is the creator of "Ecole du Soleil", an internationally recognized French immersion summer camp in Los Angeles. Prior to forming Bridges Education Consulting, Lyesse was the Director of Activities and Athletics at the International School of Los Angeles School for 15 years. Lyesse continues to oversee the Activities and Athletics for the International School of Los Angeles School on a consultant basis. Lyesse holds a BA in History and two Master degrees in Political Sciences and Information/Communication from Universite de Versailles-SQY and Lyon III, France. Lyesse was born in North Africa and grew up in France. He is fluent in French, English, and Arabic. He currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and three year old son and 1 and half year old daughter.


Ines Ouabdelkader, Junior Camp Counselor

Ines is a French counselor for the Junior Camp. She has experience working in many summer camps for children ages 6 to 17 years old. She loves working with children and looks forward to sharing her language and culture with Camp d'Eté participants.


Mathis Delpuech, Junior Camp Counselor


Mathis is a business school student in France with lots of experience tutoring children. He is looking forward to share his French culture with students from Le Camp d'été this summer. 



Théophile Roques Bahezre de Lanlay, Junior Camp Counselor


Théophile is a business student from France who has worked as a tutor and camp instructors for many years. Théophile is bilingual and bicultural as he has lived in Seattle for six years when he was a teenager.



Cécile Etchemendy, Junior Camp Counselor


Cécile is a student in an international business school in France and loves working with children. She has five years experience tutoring and helping children with homework. She always keeps up a positive attitude and looks forward to joining the Camp d'été this summer.


Keira Chinn, Mini-Camp Teacher


Keira is a long time educator of students from preschool all the way up to high school. She is a mother of two, and has taught at Ecole Bilingue’s Summer Camp for the last seven years. She brings a sweet and gentle approach to her classroom and is a favorite of our summer campers. She has a deep knowledge of childhood development and language instruction for small children. Keira is from France and is bilingual in English and in French.


Coretta Ondongo, Mini-Camp Supervisor


Coretta is currently a preschool teacher’s assistant at Ecole Bilingue. She brings her warm smile and calming energy everyday to the classroom. Coretta is originally from the Congo and is bilingual in English and in French.


Kathy Wilson, Mini-Camp Supervisor


This is Kathy’s second year working our Ecole Bilingue summer programs and has been working as a long-term sub for our Extended Day Program for two years. She has worked with all age levels, and brings a fun and nurturing energy to our program. She is a mother of a 2nd grader and a skilled facepainter! Kathy is originally from Peru and is bilingual in English and in Spanish.


Fatima Fall, Mini-Camp Teacher


Fatima has been working with young children in the preschool for 11 years now. She has a solid knowledge of the preschool curriculum as well as the best practices in early childhood education. She is the mother of two Ecole Bilingue students (6th and 2nd grades) and a dynamic member of the EB community. Fatima is originally from Senegal and is bilingual in English, in French and in Wolof.


Jano Porter, Mini-Camp Supervisor


Jano has been working at Ecole Bilingue for the past five years with our Extended Day team. She is full of energy and enthusiasm and keeps everyone on their toes! Jano is a grandmother to two EB kids as well! Jano is originally from Venezuela and is bilingual in English and in Spanish.


Ana Diarra, Mini-Camp Supervisor


Ana has been working with our Extended Day Program for the past year. A parent to a preschool age daughter, she is a warm and kind presence for the children and is very excited to work at her first Summer Camp at Ecole Bilingue. Ana is originally from Burkina Faso and is bilingual in English and in French.


Mai Jacks, Mini-Camp Supervisor


Mai has recently joined the Ecole Bilingue team. She is a preschool parent and has been working as a substitute for the majority of the school year. She loves to get kids active and moving! Mai is originally from Vietnam and is bilingual in English and in Vietnamese.


Janice MacKenzie-Fast, Mini-Camp Counselor


Janice has been working at Ecole Bilingue for eight years as an Extended Day Supervisor and brings over 20 years of educational experience to our Summer Camp. She is a mother of one and a joyous and energetic part of our community. Children absolutely love working on fun craft projects with her like knitting and weaving. Janice is from the US.
