FRENCH IMMERSION JUNIOR CAMP

Junior Camp is open to rising 1st - rising 6th graders.                                                             Camp runs from June 17th to August 2nd, 2024.                                                                       Junior Camp is open to the public.                                                                                                         No prior French required.                                                                                                             Morning Snack and Lunch provided by family

French  in the Morning

Designed to teach the fundamentals of the French language (and/or to maintain the knowledge of French), the classes take place each day (except for field trip days) for two periods of 60 minutes each and are taught by native and experienced French instructors. Classes use fun, hands-on activities to help promote the lessons.

The objective of this program is to introduce children to the French language and culture at an early age, when they still have a linguistic openness and can easily learn a second language.

The curriculum promotes the development of speaking, listening and application. The classes are designed for both beginners and intermediate French speakers.  Prior French is not required. Classes are organized by age, not language level. We have found benefits from combining children with different levels of proficiency. Children are more likely to

  • Engage in both collaborative and independent learning
  • Gain a confidence boost –Spending time with other children of varying levels helps less confident children build language skills they might be hesitant to acquire with an adult
  • Help strengthen previously learned skills that tend to get lost over summer break
