Each one of our staff members and our activities instructors is committed to providing a high quality educational and recreational experience for campers. Le Camp d'Été and EB's core values of unity, reflection, integrity, zeal, and endeavor are our guiding principles in all programming and teaching. All our staff are CPR and First Aid certified and are qualified and experienced in school and camp environments.
Mirza Kopelman, Le Camp D'Été Director
Mirza Kopelman is in his 15th year as Enrichment, Athletics, and Summer Camp Director at Ecole Bilingue de Berkeley. He brings 20 years experience in education, starting as a music teacher in New York City for three years. In 2004 he moved to Los Angeles where he started his own after school music teaching company. After several years he and his family relocated to Berkeley. His three children have all attended Ecole Bilingue and have become part of the EB family.
He is extremely passionate about the concept of learning outside the classroom, and uses this as his guiding principle in leading Enrichment and Athletics at EB. He loves music, nature, and sports. Mirza Kopelman holds a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts from Purchase College - State University of New York.
Chauncey Burnett, Le Camp D'Été Coordinator
Chauncey Burnett has worked at EB since 2006 in the Enrichment and Athletics department as a supervisor. Since 2019 she has served as Enrichment and Athletics Coordinator and Summer Camp Coordinator. She loves doing story time, organizing crafts and activities, and dancing with the children. Chauncey is a Bay Area native, raising her two boys in San Francisco.
Gregory Gavin, Riveropolis Maker Camp Creator and Teacher
Gregory Gavin an inventor and educator designs public art and educational projects for schools, museums and public places. He’s been commissioned by the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the de Young Museum, the Academy of Sciences and the National Endowment for the Arts. Gavin has piloted summer camps for the Bay Area Discovery Museum, the Museum of Children’s Art, Camp 510 and the San Francisco School. He is a California Arts Council Fellow and the founder and director of Riveropolis based in North Oakland.
Dolores Elkin, Riveropolis Maker Camp Co-Teacher
Dolores Elkin has been teaching since 1985. She has a BS from SUNY New Paltz in Art Education and an MS in Early Childhood Education from Bank Street College of Education. Dolores has worked at The San Francisco School since1990 and has taught River Camp with Gregory Gaven since 2009. She has a CA Clear Multiple Subjects Teacher Credential PreK-6 along with Art grades 6-8, a CA Child Development Program Director Permit and a NY State teaching certificate PreK-6 and Art.
Keira is a long-time educator of students from preschool all the way up to high school. She is a mother of two and has taught at EB Summer Camp for the last 7 years. She brings a sweet and gentle approach to her classroom and is a favorite of our summer campers. She has a deep knowledge of childhood development and language instruction for small children.
Alix holds a French degree in education and has 17 years of experience working with preschool, elementary and middle school-aged children. Working with children has always been her true passion and she is an extremely friendly, energetic, and creative individual. She is also and EB parent.
